About Us

Frostburg Fiber Depot opened in August of 2015 with a mission of providing local makers with high quality fiber art supplies and educational opportunities. The shop specializes in lovely American-made yarn, with select yarns from international makers; provides a variety of needles and notions; and a line up of classes designed to nurture beginners and inspire the experienced artist.

The shop’s warm and inviting atmosphere provides a perfect location to browse for your next perfect project. Electronic patterns are available for sale at any time.

The shop proprietors are Jennie & Charlotte. Jennie Reams has been passionate about knitting since the age of sixteen (when her patient mother drove her thirty minutes to the local Wal-Mart to purchase supplies for her first knitting project). With skills passed down from her grandmother, Jennie created wonky garter stitch scarves in every color and funky fiber imaginable and gifted them to a variety of friends.

After visiting an area yarn shop and completing several classes, Jennie and Charlotte, came down with a serious case of knitting fever! They’ve since attended numerous knitting and fiber related conferences, retreats, and trade shows, and are now the proud owners of the Frostburg Fiber Depot and are partners in Quaint Acres Alpacas with proprietor, Eric Clark. The Frostburg Fiber Depot is proud to be the exclusive distributor of Quaint Acres Alpacas Harvest Yarn, featuring pure and blended alpaca yarn and roving.

Jennie loves being surrounded by lush yarns and spending time at the family farm. She takes pride in the sense of connection she feels when wearing something crafted by hand from yarns spun from natural fibers. When she's not knitting, Jennie's an amateur photographer, an insatiable podcast addict, a cat lover, an enthusiastic sewist, and enjoys doing yoga.

Like Jennie, Charlotte loves being surrounded by lush yarns and roving. While Jennie is managing the shop, Charlotte continues to provide human resource services in the technology industry. Charlotte learned to knit from her Mother, Jane Taylor Folsom, who was an avid knitter, crocheter, sewer, quilter, and general maker of many amazing things. In her non-existent spare time, Charlotte dreams of hiking and traveling, while continuing to train show quality alpacas for regional and national competition.

What Jennie and Charlotte love most, is sharing their passion with others. Drop by the shop at 89 East Main Street, and be inspired to learn and do more. That special sense of accomplishment is just around the corner!
